“The greatest inheritance you can give to your children is the faith.”

-Pope Francis

Thank you for considering baptism for you or your child!

Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation and is the sacrament through which we become members of Christ and his Church. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments” (CCC 1213).

Through Baptism we:

  • Are freed from sin

  • Are reborn as sons and daughters of God

  • Become members of Christ

  • Are incorporated into the Church

  • Are made sharers in the Church’s mission

If you are looking for information on infant baptism, see below, but if you are seeking baptism for yourself or another individual over the age of seven, click here.

If you are in need of an emergency baptism, please contact the parish office at 303-469-5171 to see if a priest is available, and if you have performed an emergency baptism, contact our registrar, Merrilyn, at m.sikora@nool.us so she can update our records.

Whether you are expecting or have a newborn baby, we invite you to attend our baptism class and partake in the sacrament here at Nativity! It is important to ensure that your child is baptized as soon as possible after he or she is born.

One Class
Parents are required to attend one class in preparation for their child’s baptism, during which they will learn about the sacrament and its effects, will be assisted in choosing godparents, and will be adequately prepared for their child’s reception of the sacrament.

Classes are typically held on the second Thursday of the month from 7:00-8:00pm. Parents are expected to arrive at 6:30pm to sign in and take care of the necessary paperwork.

Q. It’s my second child; do I need to attend the class again?
A. Our baptism class is good for two years. If you have not attended our class in the past two years, you must attend again.

Parents are to choose one or two individuals to serve as sponsors for their infant. The role of the sponsors, or godparents, is to help the baptized person live a Christian life and to faithfully fulfill its obligations.

At Nativity, we usually celebrate baptisms on Saturdays at 11:00am.  Working with our registrar, Merrilyn, you will be able to find a day that works best for you and your family.
